Band of Rain, Marching

by

KC Bailey

Thunder drum beats
on the ocean
a bombardment of droplets
thrash the surface

thousands of water crowns sent skyward
pitter-patter circles percuss
radiate and clash
in storm-grey tantrums

October skies frown
the sea shudders
swells rise and crash
as waves breathe in and out

wind-scuffed clouds break
sunlight leaks through
indigo hues turn forget-me-not blue
calm restored, water settles

though the tide never sleeps
