the tide rises, the tide falls | an oceanic literary magazine
Autosarcophagy
by
Ellen Harrold
Tide pushes these crusted histories.
Tendrilled, tangled, nylon scraps
red rings, blue bottles.
Survived by the crashing of frothed water
on sheets of shale.
If eternity is found through memory
then all those beasts crushed by time
will find immortality,
in the rot we have consumed.
