the tide rises, the tide falls | an oceanic literary magazine
Big Pine Key
by
Archana Sridhar
the blackest night falls
after a day of sail-boats and snorkels
when we wade into an ocean
demarcated by a circle of nets
we are imprisoned alongside wildness
yet somehow free feeling
the salt sting in the pin-pricks
of jellyfish ink
around us phosphorescent life tumbles
like glitter-spill on cardboard
stars spin them a cocoon overhead
woven from the light
of the universe itself
