Cliffs of Moher
by
Roseanne Fahey
Step after step after step,
You climbed, you climbed,
You climbed,
Leaving your phone
With the keys of a car
Parked two hours away.
Did the rain dry?
Did the sun shine?
Did the wind blind?
Weather working with
The fences, erected
To keep you from the edge.
Hesitate. Hesitate. Hesitate.
Husband. Sons.
Surrogate daughters.
Did you think of us?
We think of you.
We still search for you.
Step after step after step,
You climbed, you climbed,
You climbed.
Two hours you drove.
Two hours you strolled.
Two belongings left behind.
